Our Catholic Identity
At St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, our faith shapes every part of school life. Grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the mission of the Catholic Church, we are committed to forming students who grow spiritually, academically, and morally and are prepared to serve others with faith and purpose.
-
Each school year, St. Wenceslaus Catholic School unites around a spiritual theme that guides prayer, learning, and community life. Our theme for this year, One in Hope, calls us to live as a community rooted in Christ, united by faith, and strengthened by hope.
Through prayer, service, and daily interactions, students and staff are encouraged to trust in God’s promises, support one another, and respond to challenges with faith and perseverance. As One in Hope, we strive to build a school community that reflects unity, compassion, and confidence in God’s guiding presence.
Our theme echoes the Church’s universal call renewed through the leadership of our Holy Father to live as a people united in Christ and grounded in hope.
-
Students experience their faith each day through prayer, religious instruction, and participation in the sacramental life of the Church. Daily prayer, weekly Mass, classroom liturgies, and faith based service opportunities help students develop a personal relationship with Christ and an understanding of how faith guides their choices and actions.
-
The liturgical seasons of the Church year are intentionally celebrated throughout our school community. Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter are marked with prayer, reflection, and meaningful activities that deepen students' understanding of Catholic tradition. Marian devotion is also central to our faith life, including the Rosary in October and the May Crowning celebration.
-
In close partnership with St. Wenceslaus Parish, our priests, deacons, and parish leaders are an active presence in the school. Together, we support students as they grow in faith, strengthen moral character, and learn to share God’s love with others.
Sacramental Preparation
St. Wenceslaus Catholic School works closely with families and the parish to guide students through sacramental preparation. We recognize parents as the primary educators of their children in faith, and the school and parish partner with families to support this sacred responsibility.
-
Students begin preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion in first grade, with reception typically taking place during second grade. Instruction emphasizes God’s mercy, the importance of forgiveness, and the meaning of the Eucharist as the source and summit of our faith.
-
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in seventh grade and continues through eighth grade. During this time, students deepen their understanding of the Holy Spirit, reflect on their personal faith journey, and grow in their call to discipleship through prayer, service, and leadership.
Families are provided with resources, communication, and opportunities for involvement throughout the sacramental process to ensure each child is well supported and spiritually prepared.
Faith in Action
Faith in Action at St. Wenceslaus reflects our commitment to living out our faith through service, generosity, and prayer. Throughout the year, students and families participate in activities such as food drives, coat collections, and other outreach efforts that support those in need within our parish and the wider community. These are just a few examples of the many opportunities our community has to put faith into action by serving others. Along with acts of service, we come together in prayer, often praying the Rosary and lifting up the needs of others, recognizing that service flows from a heart rooted in faith and love.
School Prayer
Each year, our eighth grade students take on a leadership role by writing a school prayer that reflects the faith and mission of our community. This prayer is displayed in classrooms and prayed together each morning, uniting us as one school family.
Class of 2026 School Prayer
Faithful Saint Wenceslaus, gracious martyr and king, help us put on the Armor of Christ and follow Him on the path to Heaven. Unite us in hope, so that we can love our neighbor as you did, this day and in the days to come. With Jesus, Mary, and all the saints we pray: Amen.
