July: Habitat for Humanity

Founded in 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is a grassroots organization that builds and renovates houses, forges community partnerships and breaks down barriers. Habitat eliminates vacant lots and abandoned homes in the blighted areas of North and South Omaha while improving the overall appearance of our community. Habitat Omaha Partner Families are required to complete up to 350 hours of Sweat Equity before purchasing their homes through 25 or 30-year no-interest mortgages. Since 1984, Habitat Omaha has partnered with more than 800 families in our community to help address their housing issues through homeownership, repairs and community building activities. The Faithful Builders group, of which St. Wenceslaus is part of, is building a new home at 3912 Florence Boulevard. They are in need of volunteers to help with the build and in need of funds to buy the material to build the house. You may use your July’s Charity of the Month envelope to help them with funds to build this home.
