Understand and Celebrate the "Birthday of the Church" Here are several websites to use to celebrate Pentecost. You can use the lesson on the early church found at: www.ebibleteacher.com. Auditory learners can listen to a lesson at www.gardenofpraise.com. Those struggling to explain the Holy Spirit might try the ideas in "How to Explain the Holy Spirit" at www.domestic-church.com (click on index and scroll down to the article) and "hands on learners" will appreciate the instructions on making paper doves at www.dltk-kids.com/. Pentecost (May 23, 2010).
Fly a Kite with a Family Tail for Pentecost We hear in the Scripture readings for Pentecost of the great wind that descended on the apostles. Wind is a powerful symbol of the Holy Spirit. Help your family appreciate the symbol by suggesting they make and fly a kite to celebrate the feast day. Make the tail of your kite to symbolize your family. Have each family member select some colored cloth or ribbon to tie on the tail that would represent them. Remind each other how we "soar in the power of the Spirit" as you watch your kite (and symbolic tail) fly. Celebrate Pentecost (May 23, 2010).
