Mission Statement

To provide an opportunity for members of St. Wenceslaus Parish, age 50 and over, to experience and expand on new and continuing friendships and other support through social, religious and community activities.

In keeping with our mission statement, we send cards to members that are ill and flowers or reading material to members who have been in the hospital. Follow-up calls are made to members recuperating at home and assistance given when needed. Mass cards are sent for members' immediate family in case of death.

One or more activities are planned each month. During the past year we have had:

  1. A chili cookoff
  2. A day at Bluffs Run enjoying big band music, dog races and dinner
  3. A potluck dinner and game night
  4. A performance of The Grand Olde Players
  5. A St. Patrick's Day dinner-dance at the German American Club
  6. A tour of Offut Air Force Base
  7. A cook-out
  8. A couple of golf outings and putting contests
  9. A trip to the Arthur Vineyards for a wine tasting and tour
  10. A wine and cheese tasting of our own
  11. A Music in the Parks Concert at Zorinsky Lake
  12. A melodrama and dinner at Mahoney Park
  13. An Italian night
  14. A Christmas party and White Elephant gift exchange
Every 3 months we attend 7:30 Mass on Sunday as a group. This is followed by breakfast at the Millard Legion Club.

July 15th - Indoor Picnic
  Jane Mechler will chair and Pat Maly and Anne Ostronic will co-chair. Jane is working on the menu and plans for games.
 
June 8, 2008 - Mahoney Park - Lunch and Melodrama
Lunch at 1:30 p.m. - Play at 3:00 p.m.
  Melodrama - "Case Closed" - cost $18.00 per person, this includes lunch and the play. Checks need to be sent to Don Durbin by May 29th. Car pool from Bag and Save at 144th and Center - leave parking lot at 1:00 p.m.
 
May 10, 2008 - Blood Drive
8:00 am. - 12:00 noon
  Blood drive will be held on Saturday May 10th. Anyone wishing to donate blood should contact Mildred Armitage or Jackie Swanson. As of May 5th, we are in need of 5 more donors. If you or anyone you know can donate, please contact Mildred or Jackie.
 
May, 2008 - Wellness Report
  Jenny Condon had some back problems. She did not need to have surgery and is doing well. Bill Bonds had a right knee replacement last week. He is doing fine.
