Lay liturgical ministers are granted a privileged opportunity to assist at the liturgy. This responsibility is entrusted to those who have completed required parish training. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) and Lectors are also required to receive archdiocesan training and mandation, which is offered in February and August each year. Liturgical ministers are wonderful examples to the rest of the parish of the service mandated by Jesus in the Gospel:
“I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you,
you should also do.” John 13:15.

The beauty of the Mass is enhanced by the predetermined roles of its ministers — deacons, altar servers, EMHCs, lectors and ministers of hospitality. To avoid any disruption in the Mass, it is important that liturgical ministers secure a substitute if they are prevented from honoring their commitment. A substitution list has been provided for your convenience. Login
